August 10, 2010 CIFIA Meeting - 7 PM Tremont Fire Department Tremont, IL Guest Speaker: Illinois State Fire Marshal, Larry Matkaitis Less than one year after accepting the position of Illinois State Fire Marshal, Larry Matkaitis is coming downstate to speak at the August meeting of the Central Illinois Fire Investigators Association. Larry will provide an update on the latest happenings in the Illinois State Fire Marshal’s office and talk about the “Cornerstone Program” and Fire Fighter Line of Duty Deaths. He will also answer questions from the audience. Governor Pat Quinn appointed Matkaitis as Illinois State Fire Marshal on January 4, 2010. Prior to his appointment, Larry was the northern regional administrator in the State Fire Marshal’s office, a position he held for five years. Before joining the State Fire Marshal’s office, he spent more than 30 years on the Chicago Fire Department.
